I represented a victim of domestic violence, who had left a war-torn country, to enter the UK as a spouse of a British national. Soon after her arrival, her and her young child were abandoned by her partner, and left homeless. She had no legal advice or knowledge about securing leave to remain in the UK, and was facing removal back to her home country. I was able to persuade the Home office to grant leave to remain in the UK, allowing her to seek housing, financial support and legal advice, and made a subsequent application to the Home Office. I was required to think outside the box and adopt a different approach when gathering supporting evidence for her case. She was eventually granted indefinite leave to remain in the UK, securing a safer and brighter future for her and her son.
