Cocobb Luqman

I am a Level 2 qualified solicitor at Batley Law and part of the dedicated Immigration team. I manage a full time caseload and assist clients in many different areas, such as asylum, trafficking, domestic violence and judicial review. I also prepare and submit visa applications such as spouse visas and leave to remain applications.

I have previously worked in different areas of law, including Family, Personal Injury and Insurance Litigation.

However, as soon as I had a taste of practising Immigration law, I knew this was the one for me and the area in which I wanted to specialise in for the rest of my career. Whilst I have gained invaluable experience from my previous roles, what drew me most to this area was the difference I could make to someone’s life.

Assisting those that are most vulnerable and being able to make a significant difference to their quality of life, is what makes my job so rewarding and fuels my passion to continue to do what I do.

I enjoy travelling. Malta has so far been my favourite place.

I enjoy cooking, and as part of this I enjoy trying foods from different cultures, and also attempting my own new recipes (much to my husband’s displeasure!).

I also have a passion in drawing henna art and designs.

I have assisted an asylum seeker who first came to the UK fleeing persecution in 2001. He subsequently faced multiple setbacks in the form of unsuccessful applications, being deported from the UK more than once and being subjected to further human rights abuses, escalated by his situation. After a long and turbulent history of fighting his legal battle, he was successfully granted protection in 2020. It is most certainly a case that will not be forgotten.
